NMHU Natatorium Remodel
Soleil West designed the remodel of the New Mexico Highlands University Natatorium. The remodel totals 12,605 square feet, and was completed in 2011. The remodel includes improvements to the exterior and interior of the building, as well as site and landscaping developments. The remodel was designed to become LEED® Silver certified, and offical USGBC certification is currently pending. (USGBC and the related logo are trademarks owned by the U.S. Green Building Council and are used by permission.) A variety of design principals were utilized, including a water catchment plan, photovoltaic energy systems, recycled and regional materials and finishes, the reuse of existing structural and non-structural elements, heating and cooling upgrades, water efficient plumbing fixtures, and new landscaping using native plants. In November of 2011, the Natatorium was selected as an Outstanding Design in the Renovation/Modernization Category of the American School & University Architectural Portfolio.
