Soleil West has worked on numerous historic projects within the last 10 years. The firm has worked in conjunction with the New Mexico Historic Preservation Division to successfully execute historical projects. All of the firm’s previous historical projects required identifying, field measuring, documenting, evaluating the key historic attributes of the project and insuring their integration into the new design. Soleil West takes pride in its ability to maintain the historic aesthetic and overall integrity of a building, while at the same time, retrofitting the necessary modern ammenities required by the client. |

Remodel work included the addition of several offices, additional storage and work space, site accessibility improvements, landscaping upgrades, door & window replacement, toilet room upgrades, interior finish upgrades, roof repair, insulation upgrades, and extensive mechanical and electrical upgrades. Soleil West worked with the NM Historic Preservation Division and aimed to maintain the historic integrity of the building’s original facade and external character.

Miguel Encinias Veteran's Affairs Building |

The building addition and remodel of the historic Armory Building in Las Vegas, NM was completed in 2008. Upon the project's completion, the building was renamed the Miguel Encinias Veteran's Affairs Building. Work included a full building addition for administrative offices, a new roof, brick repair, window and door replacement, interior wall partitions, additional toilet rooms, interior finishes replacement, and mechanical and electrical upgrades. The project demonstrates the firm’s ability to preserve the historic character of the building while providing the additional programmatic space necessitated by the city. |

The project included extensive interior finish upgrades, electrical, mechanical, and fire safety systems upgrades, seating replacement, toilet improvements, site improvements & landscaping, and additional interior partitions for increased office, lounge, and storage spaces. |

New Mexico Highlands University-Trolley Building |

Soleil West designed the renovation of the historic Trolley Building on the New Mexico Highlands University Campus in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The remodel to the historic Trolley Building on the New Mexico Highlands University campus was designed in multiple stages. Phase I construction of the remodel is slated to begin in 2011. The primary objectives of the remodel focus on restoring the structural integrity of the building, which includes additional structural supports, roof replacement, and building-wide window replacement. In later phases, the interior of the building will accommodate the university’s media arts program.

The remodel and restoration to the historic Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM was completed in 2002. The majority of the remodeling and restoration was to the exterior of the building, including a new steeple and a new entry stairway. Soleil West worked with the New Mexico Historic Preservation Division to generate a design that most appropriately resolved the architectural issues of the building while still maintaining the building’s historic identity and aesthetic.

The Las Vegas Police Station Remodel is currently under construction and was completed in early 2011. The project includes exterior facade and finish improvements, landscaping revisions, site accessibility improvements, interior finish upgrades, mechanical and electrical upgrades, and mold remediation. Due to the station's immediate proximity to the Historic Las Vegas Plaza, Soleil West worked with the New Mexico Historic Preservation Division to generate a design that most appropriately resolved the architectural concerns of the client while still preserving the building’s historic appearance. |

The project included interior finish upgrades, mechanical, electrical and fire safety upgrades, site improvements, ADA compliance upgrades, and exterior stucco repair.
